Barrio: Neighborhood

Batey: A small community, usually smaller than 1,000 members that is or was focused around sugar cane. Many Haitians live here, as they are the ones that usually work at the sugar canes.

Carro Público: Shared taxis with a specific route

Doña: Woman of the house, usually is at least 45-50 years old

Guagua: Bus

PCDR: Peace Corps Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo: The capital of the Dominican Republic
